THE STARTER REPORTED: a) POMODORO MAGIC was nervous in the stalls. b) ELUSIVE BOMBA kicked the back gates in the stalls. c) KILMONIVAIG jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MY AMI BEACH recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer E Kaknis was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. (14h49) b) Permission was granted for KILMONIVAIG (MK Katjedi) to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) MIDNIGHT MUSIC was hanging in from the 250m. d) Approaching the 100m, ICE CAP had to be steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between ELUSIVE BOMBA and ENDEARED, which commenced to shorten its stride from the 300m and shifted outwards slightly at the 100m. In view of the performance of ENDEARED, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. An Inquiry will be opened into the reason ENDEARED was brought to the races when she had an infectious or contagious disease. e) At the 100m, ELUSIVE BOMBA had to be steadied and directed outwards to avoid running onto the heels of BLACK PATH, which was hanging in from the 300m. f) AMANATTO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ENDEARED - examined post-race. Fungal skin disease. b) KILMONIVAIG - abnormal respiratory noise. c) ICE CAP - coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
