THE STARTER REPORTED: a) As the start was effected, FUTURE FREE turned its head to the side and, as a consequence, jumped slow, losing one length. b) SHERIFF JOHN STONE and LANDOFTHERISINGSUN jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h02) b) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, LA PULGA cast its right front shoe, which had to be replaced, causing a delay. c) On entering the straight, Jockey K de Melo elected to direct MAGIC VERSE to the outside of the racecourse. d) In view of the performances of LANDOFTHERISINGSUN and TENPENNY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings. e) Jockey S Moodley was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of LA PULGA he misused his crop by striking LA PULGA more than 10 times (12) in the race. Jockey S Moodley signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R5600,00. f) LA PULGA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass was advised. (SC) JOCKEY CHANGES: a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LANDOFTHERISINGSUN - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. b) TENPENNY - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected.
