THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PEPPER TREE refused to jump. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Trainer W H Marwing was advised (GT). b) AMERICAN REBEL was slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) NARETOI over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) Leaving the 200m, when attempting to change crop hands, Work Rider C Mabaya (NARETOI) briefly got his crop entangled in his reins. d) Work Rider P Mlangeni reported that he felt something amiss with RED SPARROW in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to PEPPER TREE, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 5 May 2026 to 11 May 2026. PEPPER TREE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer W H Marwing was advised. f) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning REAL STUNNER, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Assistant Trainer P Dlhamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M/M de Kock, was advised. g) ARIOVISTUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MS). WORK RIDER CHANGES: a) PEPPER TREE: Work Rider N Ngqwangi weighed out at 53,5kg, 1,5kg over the carded weight as declared. b) RED SPARROW: Work Rider P Mlangeni weighed out at 52,3kg, 2kg over the carded weight as declared. c) HOPSCOTCH: Work Rider V Sithetho weighed out at 52,5kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) RED SPARROW not striding out behind. b) REAL STUNNER bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension.
