THE START OF THIS RACE WAS DELAYED DUE TO PISTA RESISTANCE BEING SUBJECT TO A LATE VETERINARY EXAMINATION. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CRIMSON RANGER and SEACHTU REALTA were slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) At approximately the 150m, JIMMY VEGA was steadied momentarily when tightened for galloping room between PISTA RESISTANCE and TWO TIGERS, which hung in from the 400m. c) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with JIMMY VEGA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockey J Gates reported that PISTA RESISTANCE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Jockey C Maujean reported that he felt something amiss with SEACHTU REALTA in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) STAGE ONE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W H Marwing was advised (MS). When questioned regarding the improved performance of STAGE ONE, Trainer W H Marwing could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) JIMMY VEGA mouth injury. b) PISTA RESISTANCE not striding out left front. c) SEACHTU REALTA examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
