THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WARRIOR OF ROYALTY was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. b) FRENCH FLAME and BASINGSTOKE were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h28) b) Due to the heavy rain prior to the running of this race, all horses were held back in the saddling enclosure to allow time for the rain to subside. Thereafter, Riders were instructed not to parade and to proceed directly to the start. c) SPEED RACER brushed the inside running rail at approximately the 500m. d) ICY LANCASTER took an awkward stride leaving the 500m and became unbalanced for a number of strides. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) In view of the performance of AADEHYA, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. f) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline B on the use of the crop) in that he struck REAL WAR with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey X Ndlovu signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R500,00. g) WARRIOR OF ROYALTY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ICY LANCASTER - examined post-race. Coughing. b) AADEHYA - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
