THE STARTER REPORTED: a) OKAVANGO lost 1 length. b) MOCHA BLEND lost 4 lengths. Trainer F Robinson will be advised to reschool this filly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN over raced in the early and middle stages. c) After being slow into stride, on the early part of the turn OKAVANGO was allowed to improve around the field and thereafter raced to the lead passing the 1100m. d) Jockey A Fortune appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride in this race. He explained that in this race with no early pace, he had elected to maintain a mid-field position around the turn. In addition, he explained that this gelding felt lethargic in its action and took a considerable time to begin to improve. When questioned regarding being more vigorous earlier, he explained that he had allowed NOTE TO SELF to use his extended slow action and move up in his hands, and that in his opinion he could possibly have finished slightly closer but would not have improved his placing. The Board has adjourned to review his ride and consider his explanation. e) OKAVANGO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer J S Snaith was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) No report. SCRATCHINGS : a) LEGAL COUNSEL : Insufficient recovery time (Trainer - 07.05.2026/17h53). Rule 53.5 applies. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
