THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JAZZ FESTIVAL was stubborn to load. b) SPECTACULAR and TROIS TROIS QUATRE lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) CASSANDRA did not parade in front of the grandstand. Trainer G S Kotzen will be advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. c) Shortly after the start CASSANDRA was brushed out by NO PRESSURE, which rolled out. d) CASSANDRA raced wide around the turn and thereafter, hung in from the 200m. e) Passing the 1100m, SERPENTINE FIRE which over raced in the early and middle stages, was allowed to improve around the field and thereafter took up a forward position at the 800m. f) JAZZ FESTIVAL hung in from the 200m. g) Apprentice D D Louw reported that FAST AND FREE took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. h) In view of the performance of SERPENTINE FIRE (9.75 lengths, 28/10 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. i) SPECTACULAR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G S Kotzen was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey M Michel was the rider of SPECTACULAR (Stewards' permission). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Jockey C Zackey (NO PRESSURE) weighed out at 55.1kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) SERPENTINE FIRE : Not striding out left hind. b) FAST AND FREE : Coughing .
