DOLLAR BRAND was restless in the stalls. GIMMEACHANCE was slow into stride. Approaching the 50m, MIDNIGHT BADGER shifted out sharply away from the crop and had to be straightened. Jockey Orffer, the rider of LEGACY LANE, was dislodged shortly after the finish when this gelding stumbled badly and thereafter collapsed. As a result of this, the provisions were applied with regard to weights and weighing in. Jockey Orffer was examined by the course doctor and cleared fit to continue with his riding engagements. TAMBORA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis but was exhibiting signs of post-race distress in the specimen area, was treated and released. Vet: LEGACY LANE - acute cardiac failure - deceased TAMBORA - post race distress; treated SO SMOOTH - not striding out.
