BEIRA WAS SUBJECT TO A LATE VETERINARY EXAMINATION AND SUBSEQUENTLY SCRATCHED. THEREAFTER, PARTY PUNCH BECAME RESTLESS IN THE STALLS AND WAS REMOVED. JOCKEY M VAN RENSBURG WAS EXAMINED BY THE PARAMEDICS AND PASSED FIT TO RIDE. PARTY PUNCH WAS EXAMINED BY THE VETERINARY SURGEON AND PASSED FIT TO RACE. THESE INCIDENTS CAUSED A DELAY TO THE START OF THIS RACE. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) KISS OF FIRE stood, losing five lengths. The starting stall certificate for this mare has been withdrawn. Trainer P P Labuschagne was advised (GT). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) APOSTROPHE shifted in sharply at approximately the 400m. c) Shortly before the finish line, CHARIKLO was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between KORTVANDRAAD, which shifted out away from the crop, and APOSTROPHE, which rolled in. d) Jockey D De Gouveia reported that PALACE SCRIPT did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to KISS OF FIRE, this mare's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn, and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion on a Raceday. Suspension dates: 15 May 2026 to 21 May 2026. KISS OF FIRE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer P P Labuschagne was advised. f) SCARLET O'HARA , the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SHEETS AND GOGGLES was ridden by Jockey N Klink (declared 14 May 2026 at 09H23). LATE RACE CARD CHANGE: a) SHEETS AND GOGGLES raced with club colours (all black) Stipes' permission. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PALACE SCRIPT not striding out left hind and right front; coughing post-race. b) KISS OF FIRE blowing post-race. SCRATCHED: a) KYLIE'S ANGEL no suitable Jockey.
