THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MAESTRO AZUL and SECRET ERUPTION were stubborn loading, causing a delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h19) b) SECRET ERUPTION over raced in the early and middle stages. c) ON THE OUTSIDE was hanging in from the 300m d) RULES OF CONDUCT was hanging in from the 250m. e) APPLES AND TEA was switched out to obtain clear running at approximately the 150m. f) In view of the performance of PROFUMA, which raced green and was not persevered with from the 150m, the Veterinarian was requested to examine this colt. Apprentice B Soodoo appeared before the Board and was reminded of his obligation to report any circumstances which might affect the performance of his mount. g) Jockey R Fourie reported that RULES OF CONDUCT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this colt. h) Assistant Trainer NJ Paddock was questioned regarding the improved performance of SILVA STREAKER compared to his debut run on 10 April 2026. He advised the Stewards that this colt had improved with the racing experience. He had also raced over more ground on this occasion and on the polytrack. In his opinion, these factors all accounted for the improved performance and he intends to race this colt over further distances in future engagements. His explanation was noted. i) In view of the report from the Starter regarding MAESTRO AZUL and SECRET ERUPTION, Trainers JP Nel and SB Kotzen respectively will be advised to have these geldings re-schooled prior to their next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. j) Apprentice W Fourie was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline G on the use of the crop) in that she struck FLEET RETURN when this colt was out of contention for a place. Apprentice W Fourie signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000.00. k) GLOBAL THRILLER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised.
