THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FERRYMAN was unruly behind the stalls and slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h29) b) FERRYMAN over raced in the early and middle stages. c) MAN OF CONSEQUENCE raced wide without cover on the turn and into the straight and was not persevered with from the 250m. Thereafter, Jockey C Little reported that this gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. d) ROCKANROLLIN (AUS) was directed outwards to obtain clear running approaching the 250m. e) CARRIACOU was hanging out in the straight. f) Jockey R Fourie reported that IN MOTION choked up in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the performance of THE FERRYMAN (Betting 7/2; Distance 5.85 lengths), the Veterinarian was requested to examine this colt. h) MARCUS AURELIUS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
