En route to the start TULIP FIELDS lifted the right front shoe which was attended to by the course farrier at the start. This filly was examined by the Veterinarian and was passed fit to race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TULIP FIELDS was stubborn to load. b) ONE SMART COOKIE lost 1 length. c) QUERARI ROSE lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Approaching the 400m QUERARI ROSE veered in sharply for no apparent reason despite Jockey T Godden's attempts at restraining this filly. As a result, QUERARI ROSE ran through the inside running rail, dislodging Jockey Godden. Jockey Godden was attended to by the course Paramedics and transported to the medical centre for further assessment. Jockey Godden was stood down and dispatched to hospital for X-rays to his leg. This precluded Jockey Godden from weighing in, and the Board, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed his weight to be correct. QUERARI ROSE was taken in hand and attended to by the Veterinarian. c) In view of the Veterinarian's report concerning QUERARI ROSE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. (Suspension dates : 18.05.2026 - 16.07.2026 bdi). Trainer M D Miller was advised. d) Apprentice D D Louw reported that SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) changed stride repeatedly in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) FIERY ROSE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer V H Marshall was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) SARAGOSSA CAT (ARG) : Not striding out left hind. b) QUERARI ROSE : Bilateral epistaxis confirmed. 60 day suspension recommended. SCRATCHINGS : a) DARK MATTER : Skin disease (Trainer - 17.05.2026/06h59). Rule 53.5 applies. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
