THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WILLIAM OF ORANGE jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) KIMBALL O'HARA raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. c) Apprentice D Pillay reported that FINE DINING did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. d) In view of the performance of LILTING SONG (3.95 lengths, 14/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) Jockey S Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of THE GLIDING FISH, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (11) in the entire race. Jockey Veale signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1800. f) THE GLIDING FISH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Dixon was advised (MM).
