THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, the noseband on FATEFUL LOVE came loose. This filly was removed from the stalls, the noseband was refitted and FATEFUL LOVE was reloaded, causing a delay. Thereafter, this filly was slow into stride. b) CASPERITA was nervous and stood awkwardly in the stalls. c) MALIBU ICE and MARCHLAND were nervous in the stalls. d) POWEROFPEACE was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h40) b) Permission was granted for OBSIDIAN STAR to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) The technical issue in the Judge's box was fully resolved prior to the running of Race 5. d) FATEFUL LOVE over raced in the early and middle stages. e) CASPERITA shifted sharply outwards away from the crop at the 300m. f) In view of the performance of MALIBU ICE (Betting 5/1; Distance 10 lengths), which was hanging in from the 200m, the Veterinarian was requested to examine this filly. g) MARCHLAND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (SP) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) MALIBU ICE - examined post-race. Mouth injury & not striding out right hind. b) DAFFODIL DELIGHT - mouth injury. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
