THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VALIEVA was slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Leaving the 200m, a number of horses suffered varying degrees of interference. The Board have adjourned to review this incident. c) In the concluding stages, CRYSTAL GROVE was tightened for galloping room on the inside of ADA LOVELACE, which hung in. Thereafter, shortly before the finish line, CRYSTAL GROVE was bumped in and unbalanced by ADA LOVELACE, which continued to shift in. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board, which was followed by an Objection being lodged by him on behalf of the second-placed horse, CRYSTAL GROVE (*B Marx-Jacobson), against the winner, ADA LOVELACE (J Gates), on the grounds of interference and intimidation in the concluding stages. The Objection Board, after reviewing the patrol film of the race and hearing all the evidence put forward by the connections, was of the opinion that CRYSTAL GROVE (*B Marx-Jacobson) would have finished in front of ADA LOVELACE (J Gates) barring this incident and therefore upheld the Objection and amended the Judges' result to read as follows: 1st 6 CRYSTAL GROVE (*B Marx-Jacobson) 2nd 9 ADA LOVELACE (J Gates) 3rd 5 VALIEVA (M van Rensburg) 4th 1 FAIR PROPOSAL (S Moodley) 5th 4 SIGRID SWING (Wes Marwing) 6th 8 BEAUTIFUL RANIA (M Michel) d) CRYSTAL GROVE, placed first on objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry was advised (SM). e) ADA LOVELACE, placed second on objection, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Webber was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) OPERA FAN scalp wound right hind. b) SIGRID SWING cut into right hind. c) CLAIRWOOD ROSE not striding out right hind. SCRATCHED: a) RABBLE ROUSER pulled muscle (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies). DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None. Race 6 contd.
