THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The tongue tie on REAL WAR was re-fitted at the start on two occasions, causing a delay. b) On his arrival at the start, GALE WARNING dislodged Apprentice B Soodoo and bolted the course, causing a delay. This gelding was taken in hand and was withdrawn for causing a further delay to the start of this race. c) ONE TOO MANY was stubborn loading. d) CHOCOLATE BOMB was nervous in the stalls and fly-jumped leaving the stalls. e) REAL WAR and DIVO MONDO were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h55) b) Permission was granted for CHOCOLATE BOMB and GALE WARNING to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) GALE WARNING refused to parade in front of the grandstand and proceeded directly to the start. This gelding is suspended indefinitely in terms of Rule 93.2.4 until such time as he proves tractable parading and proceeding to the start on a race day, on two occasions. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. d) DIVO MONDO had to be steadied momentarily off the heels of THE WINTER LAKE, which shifted outwards shortly after the start. e) CHARLIE MALONE was hanging in from the 200m. f) ONE TOO MANY raced with its head held awkwardly and shifted inwards between the 150m and the 100m. Thereafter, Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. g) FRENCH FLAME was hanging in from the 100m. h) Apprentice G Dookhit reported that THE WINTER LAKE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. i) DIVO MONDO returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 120 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised. (Dr J de Villiers) j) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ONE TOO MANY, Trainer K Mitchley was advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. k) FRENCH FLAME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. (LM) l) CHERRY OH BABY, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) ONE TOO MANY - examined post-race. Fatigued. b) THE WINTER LAKE - examined post-race. Not striding out right hind. c) DIVO MONDO - bilateral epistaxis. Suspended 120 days. Rule 93.1 applied. d) REAL WAR - not striding out right hind & choked up. e) BLAME IT ON ME - scalp wound left hind. SCRATCHED: a) GALE WARNING - delayed the start.
