THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WISHES AND DREAMS jumped awkwardly. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h41) b) Permission was granted for EPIKLEROS and EAST COAST GIRL to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) WISHES AND DREAMS over raced in the early and middle stages. d) SPLICETHEMAINBRACE was hanging in badly from the 300m. e) Jockey C Maujean did not persevere with his riding of ACCEPT COOKIES from the 250m and thereafter reported that this filly did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) ENCHANTING CHOICE was hanging in from the 200m. g) Jockey X Ndlovu (WISHES AND DREAMS) appeared before the Board and was questioned as to the reason he hit this filly on the shoulder. He explained to the Board that he was racing in close proximity to other runners and had been unable to use his crop behind the saddle. His explanation was noted. h) SPLICETHEMAINBRACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) i) EPIKLEROS, the third-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) ACCEPT COOKIES - examined post-race. Not striding out right front. b) WISHES AND DREAMS - mouth injury. c) SPLICETHEMAINBRACE - mouth injury. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
