THE STARTER REPORTED: a) I SALUTE YOU and FIELD MARSHAL lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Leaving the 1600m, JP'S PALACE was brushed and unbalanced by REGULATION which was carried in by LA PULGA which rolled in and was immediately corrected. As a consequence, ZEITZ was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of JP'S PALACE. c) DOWN BY THE RIVER over-raced on the early part of the turn. d) JP'S PALACE hung out around the turn. e) Jockey C Murray reported that MADISON VALLEY took no interest in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) Jockey J P v'd Merwe reported that REGULATION choked up in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. g) Jockey S Moodley was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of ZEITZ, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than 10 times (11) in the entire race. Jockey S Moodley signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R3200. h) ZEITZ, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Forster acting on behalf of Trainer W A Nel was advised (DZ). i) I SALUTE YOU, placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt was advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) MADISON VALLEY : Nothing obvious detected. b) REGULATION : Nothing obvious detected.
