THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SCARLET STARLET was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly after the start PHUTULICIOUS jumped inwards and made contact with the right-side gate leaving the starting stalls. c) Leaving the starting stalls SCARLET STARLET was bumped out by CHARA SANDS which rolled out. As a consequence, SCARLET STARLET lost position. d) LONELY AS A CLOUD hung in from the 250m and thereafter Apprentice D D Louw reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) Approaching the 200m SCARLET STARLET hung out from the 300m and was directed inwards, away from the heels of PHUTULICIOUS. f) CHARA SANDS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M L Roberts was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) LONELY AS A CLOUD : Nothing obvious detected. b) CHARA SANDS : Cut into left hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
