RACING TODAY MAIDEN PLATE (F & M) (For Maiden Fillies and Mares)

THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TAKEMETOTHEMOON was stubborn loading. b) ROCK UP was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) SKIP THE LINE was nervous in the stalls, jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter, was slow into stride. d) AMERICAN GEM and SALOON GIRL were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h14) b) Permission was granted for WALK RIGHT IN, TAKEMETOTHEMOON and AMERICAN GEM to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) SKIP THE LINE, which was slow into stride, raced detached from the field from the 800m and thereafter, raced green. d) FOCAL POINT shifted out away from the crop from the 300m and was corrected shortly before the finish. e) Jockeys C Little (ENGELANDPARK) and M van Rensburg (SALOON GIRL) reported that their respective fillies did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. Trainer K Mitchley was advised to report back should she find anything amiss with SALOON GIRL on her return to the stables. f) In view of the performance of SKIP THE LINE, the Veterinarian was requested to examine this filly. Trainer AC Greeff was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this filly on her return to the stables. g) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SKIP THE LINE, Trainer AC Greeff was advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. h) Jockey K Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline B) in that he mis-used his crop by striking WALK RIGHT IN with his crop arm above shoulder height. Jockey K Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2 500.00. In determining penalty, the Board took into account that Jockey K Strydom had been warned against the manner in which he used his crop on previous occasions and had also signed an Admission of Guilt relating to this Rule. i) TRULY MAGICAL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM) j) FOCAL POINT, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer E Kaknis was advised. (LM) FURTHER JOCKEY CHANGES/OTHER: a) M van Rensburg rode SALOON GIRL. (declared 12h05 on 20260608) b) ROCK UP raced in club colours - Stewards' permission. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) SALOON GIRL - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. b) SKIP THE LINE - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. c) ENGELANDPARK - examined post-race. Not striding out in front. d) FOCAL POINT - coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
