THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEEMSTEDE was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly outwards. b) EL ROMIACHI jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. c) BRENDEN JAMES was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h57) b) Permission was granted for ROLL OF THE DICE to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) HONORABLE MEMBER and PORFIRIO made contact when awkwardly placed between LAGUNA VERDE and EL ROMIACHI, which jumped inwards shortly after the start. In this incident, Jockey C Habib (HEEMSTEDE) lost his footing to his right-side stirrup iron. d) LAGUNA VERDE over raced in the early and middle stages. e) Leaving the 1400m, ROLL OF THE DICE had to be steadied and shifted outwards to avoid running onto the heels of GENOVEFA, which over raced and, as a consequence, had to be steadied off the heels of KINGS AGAIN. f) HONORABLE MEMBER was baulked for a clear run between the 350m and the 250m. g) GLOBAL ALLY shifted in away from the crop from the 250m. h) In view of the performance of PORFIRIO, which was not persevered with from the 200m, the Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. i) Apprentice B Soodoo reported that EL ROMIACHI did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. j) SILVONIAN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer DG Smith was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) PORFIRIO - examined post-race. Not striding out right front. b) ROLL OF THE DICE - not striding out. c) EL ROMIACHI - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. d) HEEMSTEDE - coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
