En route to the start TIGER CODY lifted the left front shoe which was attended to by the course farrier at the start. This gelding was examined by the Veterinarian and passed fit to race.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GOLDEN DIOGO was slow into stride.
b) MEEKSHA lost 1 length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) Leaving the starting stalls GOLDEN DIOGO, which was slow away, and MEEKSHA, came together and brushed. Thereafter, THE BIDDER lost position when awkwardly placed between GOLDEN DIOGO and RACHEL'S BOY, which was bumped out by THUNDER STAR, which jumped outwards.
c) THE BIDDER and GOLDEN DIOGO raced green.
d) At the 250m MEEKSHA was bumped outwards on two occasions and thereafter carried out by TIGER CODY which shifted out and was then corrected. Thereafter, passing the 100m, TIGER CODY was carried in briefly by MEEKSHA which rolled in away from the crop.
e) An Objection was lodged by Jockey C Zackey on behalf of the second placed horse MEEKSHA against the winner TIGER CODY (K de Melo) on the grounds of interference in the straight. After viewing the Patrol Video and considering the evidence presented, the Board upheld the objection and amended the Judges' result. In arriving at this decision, the Board concluded that prior to this incident occurring MEEKSHA had improved from behind TIGER CODY. Thereafter MEEKSHA was bumped outwards on two occasions by TIGER CODY, lost momentum as a result, and was also carried outwards. In the Board's opinion any carrying inwards of TIGER CODY by MEEKSHA shifting in had not visually impacted TIGER CODY. The Board also considered the distance of 0.05 lengths between these two horses at the finish. Jockey C Zackey's deposit was refunded. Jockey K de Melo (TIGER CODY) appeared before the Board with regard to the above incident and was advised to correct his mounts sooner when they shift ground in races in future.
f) Apprentice D Pillay reported that KIKI U BEAUTY made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine.
g) TIGER CODY, placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Naidoo was advised (MM).

a) RACHEL'S BOY is a gelding (Gelded : 15.04.2025) (Incorrectly carded).
