THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) AZZURRI was very restless in the stalls and lost 3 lengths. Trainer L V Woodruff will be advised to reschool this gelding.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) The Board reviewed the start to this race with regard to AZZURRI, drawn in stall gate 10. After reviewing the footage to the start from all available angles, it was established that AZZURRI had become restless, rushed the front gates and reversed backwards in the stalls as the stall gates were released. This resulted in the handler being fractionally slow in releasing AZZURRI. The Board was satisfied that the subsequent loss of forward movement was due to the horse's own behaviour and therefore took no further action.
c) Leaving the starting stalls GORGEOUS GUY and MOJO MAN came together and bumped.
d) CALL OF THE KAROO and JOHNNY BOY over-raced in the early stages.
e) GORGEOUS GUY commenced to over-race for a short distance, approaching the 800m.
f) Shortly before entering the straight, JOHNNY BOY was carried out by CALL OF THE KAROO, which rolled out, away from the heels of LITTLE BOY BLUE. As a consequence, CALL OF THE KAROO and JOHNNY BOY raced wide into the straight.
g) The breast plate fitted to CHICARITO became partially detached in the running.
h) MOJO MAN hung in from the 200m.
i) In view of the performances of GORGEOUS GUY (8.85 lengths and 7/1 in the betting) and JOHNNY BOY (8.35 lengths and 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine.
j) CHICARITO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen was advised (DZ).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) Jockey T Godden was the rider of LITTLE BOY BLUE (advised 13.06.2026/07h30).
b) Jockey S Veale was the rider of AZZURRI (advised 13.06.2026/07h42).
THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED :
a) GORGEOUS GUY : Not striding out right front and coughing.
b) JOHNNY BOY : Nothing obvious detected.
c) DEFINITELY YES : Scalped right front and coughing.
d) MUSIC IS LIFE : Coughing.
