THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DEBATABLE jumped sharply inwards leaving the stalls. b) KING SOLOMON and SMOKING GUN were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Shortly before the loading process, BISOU BISOU got loose from the Handler allocated to him. This gelding was taken in hand, examined by the Veterinarian and passed fit to race. c) Shortly after the start, TIME TO FIRE was bumped in by DEBATABLE, which jumped sharply inwards leaving the stalls. As a consequence of this, Jockey M van Rensburg (TIME TO FIRE) was momentarily unbalanced. d) MFULATHELA hung out from the 400m. e) At approximately the 300m, DEBATABLE, which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between SNOWBLADE and RIVERA, which hung in. f) BISOU BISOU, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Stable Employee F Naude, acting on behalf of Trainer C Spies, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. LATE RACE CARD CHANGE: a) DEBATABLE is a gelding (gelded 26 January 2026). Trainer P F Matchett was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that DEBATABLE had been gelded. Trainer P F Matchett signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R500,00. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) DEBATABLE abnormal respiratory noise.
