THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROCK THE ROAD jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) MAC D jumped slow, losing one length. c) INGENUE jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped SCANDALIZE leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Apprentice P Porffy (SPURIOUS) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) SPURIOUS was hanging out from the 400m. c) At the 400m PROXIMA was steadied briefly when awkwardly placed on the outside of SPANISH WORLD. d) Jockey K de Melo reported that he felt something amiss with PITERAQ and he did not persevere with his riding from the 250m. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this filly. PITERAQ returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr J de Villiers). Trainer J Crawford was advised. e) SCANDALIZE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Woolard, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised. (ZM) f) SPANISH WORLD, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ) JOCKEY CHANGES: a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) PITERAQ - examined post-race. Bilateral Epistaxis. Suspended 60 days. Rule 93.1 applied. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
