THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DIAMOND JIM was restless in the stalls. b) CAPTAIN CARNAGE was restless in the stalls and thereafter jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey K Derere (CAPTAIN CARNAGE) did not persevere with his riding from the 350m. In view of this report, the Veterinarian was requested to examine. Trainer D Swanson was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of CAPTAIN CARNAGE on return to stables. b) Shortly after the start, ROYAL LYTHAM ducked out sharply for no apparent reason. Thereafter, this mare hung in from the 200m. c) RED TOP hung out from the 200m. d) RED TOP, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Swanson was advised (JM).
