There was a delay to the running of the 3rd race after the riders expressed concern regarding patches on the bend. The panel was formed, and having inspected the track, were unanimously of the view that it was safe to continue with the remainder of the race meeting. ROYAL SELVEN (AUS) was slow into stride. KALIDAR lost 1 length. NIGHT LOCK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. VOLCANIC ROCK, who was hanging in, shifted in slightly at approximately the 1600 metre mark, resulting in LA SONADORA, who was pulling hard, becoming momentarily inconvenienced. In view of the performance of ROYAL SELVEN (AUS), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. ROYAL SELVEN (AUS) returned post-race having cast a left hind shoe. Apprentice Murray, the rider of ROYAL SELVAN (AUS), had a satisfactory qualifying ride. Vet: ROYAL SELVEN (AUS) - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: WISE WILLIAM - Swollen right fore. YESAN STAR and ELECTRIC BLUE - Under suspension.
