The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. SACRED BLUES lost one length. NOBLE DIANA over-raced in the early and middle stages. Trainer Puller appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding the poor performance of SACRED BLUES on 05 February 2020. In this regard, he explained to the Board that, in comparison to the last run of SACRED BLUES on the grass and over a sprint trip, this filly had enjoyed as expected on breeding, the significant step up in distance today. This in his opinion accounted for SACRED BLUES improved winning performance. The Board noted the explanation of Trainer Puller which was corroborated by the form of SACRED BLUES. Jockey Dillon reported that he felt something amiss with SUMMER DAY in the running. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SUMMER DAY, this filly was suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Jockey Randolph signed an admission of guilt for the contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse EXCESSIVE GRACE more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Randolph the Board considered the number of times Jockey Randolph struck the horse EXCESSIVE GRACE, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Randolph used his crop and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of was imposed. Jockey Marcus signed an admission of guilt for the contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse DUCHESS OF MALFI more than 12 times in the entire Race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Marcus the Board considered the number of times Jockey Marcus struck the horse DUCHESS OF MALFI, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey Marcus used his crop and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of was imposed. SACRED BLUES was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SUMMER DAY - bi-lateral epistaxis. 60 day suspension confirmed.
