XERXES was slow into stride. DANCING SPIRIT (ARG) and TARGET FIVE lost 1 length. ALDRIC was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LIVE CONTROVERSY was eased approaching the 1000 metre mark, off the heels of ALDRIC resulting in ROCKY BAY having to be eased off the heels of LIVE CONTROVERSY. Apprentice Barnes, the rider of ALDRIC, appeared before the Board with regard to this incident regarding regulating the pace in races more evenly in the early and middle stages. ALDRIC over-raced in the early stages and was hanging out badly over the final 300 metre mark and shifted outwards. BONDS THE NAME over-raced in the early stages. Vet: DANCING SPIRIT, BONDS THE NAME and SPRITZER - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: A P STRIKE - elevated temperature. SQUADRON - hoof abscess.
