Apprentice Juglall rode his 40th winner on 27 February 2020 and will now claim a 1.5kg allowance. MAPLE STREET and MASTER OF DISGUISE jumped outwards. TAKAGARI was slow into stride. At approximately the 100m THE CONTRACTOR was carried out marginally by MAGIC BLAZE, which shifted out away from the crop and was immediately straightened. Apprentice Schwarz accidentally dropped his crop shortly before the finish line. Jockey Simons reported that he felt something amiss with MERCY MISSION in running. In view of the performance from PHINDA MZALA , the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the performance of PHINDA MZALA, Jockey Strydom explained to the Board that this gelding had jumped well and sat in a handy position, however, coming round the turn he felt PHINDA MZALA come under pressure. Approaching the 400m this gelding had come under a hard ride and thereafter stayed one-paced to the finish. It was his opinion that PHINDA MZALA will be better suited to further. MASTER OF DISGUISE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: MERCY MISSION and PHINDA MZALA - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
