JACKIE O was checked by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, cleared fit to race at the start. SUMMER SOLSTICE was nervous in the stall, slow away and lost 2 lengths. ROCK THE SYSTEM (AUS) was slow away, lost 2 lengths. FREDDY'S SISTER kicked the rail in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Course Veterinary Surgeon, who examined this filly a second time at the start and cleared this filly fit to race. Jockey Gould reported that SUMMER SOLSTICE rushed the front gates as the start was effected. The Stipendiary Board called for a race review into the start. SUMMER SOLSTICE had been fractious in the stalls, reared as the start was to be effected, and was controlled by the Handler, who unintentionally impeded this filly as the gates opened. The Board, after re-viewing the Patrol Film, was of the opinion that SUMMER SOLSTICE did not have a fair start and declared it a non-runner. I GOT YOU BABE was hanging in, in the closing stages. Jockey Danielson reported that OUR DIZZY EMBLEM changing stride continually in the closing stages. Jockey Herholdt reported that ROCK THE SYSTEM (AUS) was not striding out freely in the running. VARIETY STAR was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. DAINTREE DANCER raced with blinkers. Vet: FREDDY'S SISTER - bruised shin left hind. OUR DIZZY EMBLEM - short left fore. ROCK THE SYSTEM (AUS) - abnormal respiratory noise, short in front. MISS FRISKIE - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: SUMMER SOLSTICE - declared a non-runner.
