KING HORIZONS was fractious, reared, broke through the front gate, dislodged the rider and bolted the course back to the parade ring, where the gelding was caught, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently withdrawn. The other runners were unloaded. Trainer Kotzen will be advised that KING HORIZONS' starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. DESTINY DRIVEN, FULL COURT, NITRO-G and GINGER RIPPLE were restless in the stalls. GINGER RIPPLE jumped awkwardly, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. Jockey Smitsdorff reported that GINGER RIPPLE did not stride out freely in running and as a result did not persevere with his riding in the closing stages. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of NITRO-G, dropped his crop when inside the starting stall before the start was effected and rode without a crop for the duration of the race. RIVA BLU raced green. FULL COURT shifted out away from the crop in the closing stages. SURREY was bumped outwards on three separate occasions from the 150m by DESTINY DRIVEN, which shifted out away from the crop. This led to MUSICAL MAN being tightened for galloping room on the outside of SURREY leaving the 50m. A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review regarding this incident and after reviewing the patrol films from various angles, decided to take no further action. Jockey Fayd'herbe, the rider of DESTINY DRIVEN, was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners when he shifted out away from the crop between the 150m and the 50m. Jockey Fayd'herbe signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of one week. NEW MOON RISING was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MUSICAL MAN raced fitted with blinkers. Vet: GINGER RIPPLE - was inspected and no obvious abnormalities were detected. FULL COURT - abnormal crop marks on the left hindquarter. FULL COURT - was re-examined after 30 minutes and appeared normal. Scratched: SUPERFLY - coughing. KING HORIZONS - broke through the front gate, dislodged the rider and bolted back to the parade ring.
