DISPICABLE and STANTON STREET were restless in the stalls. Both were removed, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. Assistant Trainer Fripp, on behalf of Trainer Rivalland, advised to re-school DISPICABLE. Assistant Trainer Mhlamvu, on behalf of Trainer van Zyl, to be advised to re-school STANTON STREET. SAIL SMARTLY lost 1 length. DISPICABLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Jockey Dillon, the rider of LORD CARO reported this gelding making an abnormal respiratory noise at the pull-up. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey de Melo the rider of DARK FATE, and Jockey Brown, the rider of LEVI, reported their respective mounts took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these colts Jockey Kennedy, the rider of STANTON STREET, reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running and as a result did not persevere with his ride in the latter stages. Jockey Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention in that whilst riding GREATTOBECAPTAIN he used his crop more than 12 times in this race. The Board in determining the penalty considered the manner in which Jockey Moodley used the crop. He was fined. DURAN raced fitted with alumites both fore and steels behind. TEXAS FIZZ raced with his tongue tied down. Vet: LORD CARO - abnormal respiratory noise. DARK FATE, STANTON STREET and LEVI - nothing obvious detected.
