CHEROKEE CHIEF and JAMES PETER were restless in the stalls, respectively. FERGIE'S ROCK and RADAMES were slow into stride, respectively. FERGIE'S ROCK raced awkwardly in the straight. At the 300m, CHEROKEE CHIEF, which showed a tendency to hang in, had to ease when awkwardly placed between JAMES PETER, which was hanging in from the 350m and CARDBOARD COWBOY, which rolled out marginally. Jockey Brown reported that LIVINGLAVIDALOCA made an abnormal respiratory noise in the running Apprentice Zuma the rider of KENNETH MACARTHUR completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. Apprentice Gates, the rider of FRANKIE TWO SHOES, rode his 60th winner and in terms of the Rules, in future, will not claim an allowance from the conclusion of today's race meeting. Jockey Arries signed an admission of guilt and was fined for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse RED HOT NIGHT more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Arries, the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey Arries struck the horse RED HOT NIGHT and his record in relation to this Rule.
