The start of this Race was delayed due to ADMIRAL CODRINGTON having to be re-saddled at the start. PERFECT CIRCLE, BEAUTIFUL STRIKE and BRIGHTNUMBERTWO were slow into stride. IL PALIO lost one length. PERFECT CIRCLE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer Kotzen requested and was granted permission to have the lead horse accompany ILITSHE (AUS) to the start. ADMIRAL CODRINGTON was pulling hard in the early stages, difficult to restrain. PERFECT CIRCLE was hanging in, in the latter stages. Apprentice van der Hoven reported that he felt something amiss with BEAUTIFUL STRIKE and as a result did not persevere with his mount over the final 200 metres. ILITSHE (AUS) was hanging in, in the straight and shifted in approaching the 200 metre mark, resulting in BRIGHTNUMBERTWO, who was improving on the inside running rail, became cramped for galloping room and unbalanced for a number of strides. Thereafter ILITSHE (AUS) shifted out resulting in SOLO RUSH having to be eased momentarily. An objection was lodged by a Stipendiary Steward on behalf of BRIGHTNUMBERTWO, placed fifth, against the fourth placed horse, ILITSHE (AUS), on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After viewing the patrol videos from the various angles, considering the evidence presented and the distance between these two horses at the finish, the Board was of the opinion that but for the interference, BRIGHTNUMBERTWO would have beaten ILITSHE (AUS) and therefore upheld the objection and amended the Judge's result accordingly. FAIR CATCH raced equipped with blinkers. Vet: BEAUTIFUL STRIKE - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: CAPTAIN'S PLEASURE - no transport available. MYNAMEISBOND - lame right hind.
