The start of the 5th Race was delayed as a result of the withdrawal of the favourite SHEIK'S BRASHEE at the start. SHEIK'S BRASHEE was difficult to load and injured himself entering the stalls. GABRONZA refused to load. WOLF IN WINTER and HIGHLAND FLING both lost 1 length. INTERFACE ACE lost 2 lengths. WIND SPEED threw his head up, lost 4 lengths. DODGE CITY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. HIGHLAND FLING and TYCOON TOUCH were hanging in throughout. TRIX OF THE TRADE and TYCOON TOUCH made contact at approximately the 700 metre mark. INTERFACE ACE shifted in away from the crop shortly before the finish. Simultaneously LIZARD'S PASSION shifted out slightly, resulting in IKATI becoming cramped for galloping room and having to be checked. Apprentice Claassen signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended for seven days for a contravention in that, as the rider of INTERFACE ACE, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horse IKATI in the latter stages. Apprentice Murray reported that TRIX OF THE TRADE took no interest in running. In view of the Starter's report concerning GABRONZA, the staring stall certificate has been withdrawn until recertified tractable with a companion. Apprentice May, the rider of IKATI, Apprentice Fortune, the rider of WENDY MAE, and Apprentice Mo, the rider of TYCOON TOUCH, all had satisfactory qualifying rides. Vet: TRIX OF THE TRADE - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SHEIK'S BRASHEE - injured in the stalls and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. GABRONZA - refused to load and was withdrawn by Starter.
