EMMA DE LAGO (AUS) and SAINT DEPORTISTA made contact at the start. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine SAINT DEPORTISTA, which tired quickly in the latter stages, and submit a report. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine REBEL RUBY which trailed the field and changed stride continually, and submit a report. When questioned regarding the improved performance from EMMA DE LAGO (AUS) today compared to the filly's previous race on 22/01/2014 when she finished 26.80 lengths behind the winner over 1600m, Trainer Snaith told the Stewards that he had been disappointed with that run as she had been working well, but he was of the opinion that maybe the 1600m was too far for the filly at this stage of her career and that she was probably now more suited to today's 1000m. His explanation was noted and the Board reviewed the patrol films of the filly's previous race and was of the opinion that the filly had failed to run on in the home straight and had compounded in the latter stages. It was noted that the Veterinary Surgeon found no obvious abnormalities when examined in the unsaddling enclosure after her previous race. Her future performances will be monitored. EMMA DE LAGO (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HAMMIE'S WILDCAT - cast the right fore shoe during the pull up. SAINT DEPORTISTA and REBEL RUBY - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
