VALKYRIE broke open the front gate shortly before the start and a false start was called. All the runners were restrained and returned to the start, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded. VALKYRIE was fractious in the stalls and had to be hooded. Trainer Kotzen will be advised that this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. KUNG FU PANDA was slow into stride. A false start was called at 14h30,37 and all the runners were immediately eased up, except WESTERN WONDER, TITANIUM TIGER and VALKYRIE, which were eased up at about the 2200m before returning to the start, and all the runners were checked by the Veterinary Surgeon before being reloaded. Jockey Byleveld reported that he felt something amiss with CAPTAIN ROMANOV in running. TITANIUM TIGER shifted outwards continually between the 350m and 150m. Apprentice Goomany, the rider of TITANIUM TIGER, was charged with a contravention, in that he failed to ride in a competent and professional manner by failing to take sufficient measures when shifting outwards more than 20 horse widths between the 350 and 150m. Apprentice Goomany signed an Admission of Guilt and was suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days. MANTLE'S HEATH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. OH SHUCKS raced without cheek pieces. Vet: CAPTAIN ROMANOV - not striding out on the left fore. Scratched: NEW STAR - sold without engagement.
