GLAM I AM and LADY SILVIA were stubborn loading. GOLD MASCARA and RAVISHING JEWEL were slow away, lost 2 lengths. The track condition was changed to soft before the running of this race. Apprentice Patel reported that SISTER SYBIL was not striding out freely in the running. Jockey Cheyne, the rider of LADY SILVIA, Jockey Yeni, the rider of PRETTY FLAMINGO, and Jockey Zechner, the rider of SLY TACTICS, reported that their mounts did not act in the soft underfoot track conditions. GOLDEN FIGHTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Strydom was questioned regarding the improved performance of this filly compared to her previous start on 7 February 2014. He explained that this filly performed in the soft track condition and was the first time equipped with blinker/pacifiers. The Board noted this explanation. ARWA stumbled after the finish line, dislodging Jockey Webber. After the running of the fourth race the jockey's lodged a protest against continuing racing on the Turf, on the grounds of poor visibility due to the kick back from the continual rain throughout the race meeting. They further complained about the inconsistent track condition which made the track unsafe for racing. A Panel was formed and an inspection of the course was carried out by officials, trainers and jockeys. The Panel agreed that the turf track was unsafe and decided to move the remaining five races (races five and nine) to the Polytrack. LADY BIZHUB raced with blinkers. Vet: ARWA - coughing post-race, short behind. SLY TACTICS - speedy cut right hind inner fetlock. SISTER SYBIL - checked post race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: MATCHLESS MAE - insufficient recovery time. LITTLE BLACK BOOK - coughing.
