MEISSA was stubborn loading. AMERICAN STORM and FLAMING FORGE were slow into stride. GOLD SITE raced without blinkers. TERRITORIAL WATERS (AUS) was pulling hard early. Jockey Sturgeon, the rider of AMERICAN STORM, and Apprentice Juglall, the rider of SNAPPY LAD, reported that their respective mounts were not striding out freely in running. MEISSA shifted out at approximately the 150 metre mark, carrying MOVE LIKE JAGGER outwards. A race review was called with regard to this incident and thereafter Jockey Chambers, the rider of MOVE LIKE JAGGER, placed second, lodged an objection against MEISSA being declared the winner, on the grounds of intimidation and taking up his running in the latter stages. After viewing the patrol films of the race and hearing the evidence, the Board decided to overrule the objection and refund the objection deposit fee. The result stands. Jockey Strydom signed an Admission of Guilt for the contravention in that he failed to ensure that he did not intimidate MOVE LIKE JAGGER in the latter stages of the race whilst riding MEISSA. A Warning was imposed. MEISSA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: AMERICAN STORM - post race distress. KINGS ENTOURAGE - abnormal respiratory noise. SNAPPY LAD - abnormal respiratory noise; not striding out left fore and was suspended indefinitely for full veterinary report.
