There was a delay to the start of the 2nd Race due to the delay to the start of the 1st Race. RAD ROCK and MOON FROST were both slow into stride. SOME MAGIC lost 1 length. KAJI was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Dixon was questioned regarding the improved performance of KAJI. Mr Dixon explained that in KAJI'S penultimate start she had compounded in the closing stages over 1400 metres and that today he had dropped her back in distance. In her previous start she had suffered interference in the closing stages and the loss of ground was exaggerated due to this filly only having one eye and being easily intimidated. He was further of the view that the company today was of a weak calibre. Mr Dixon's attention has been drawn to the Rules pertaining to in and out running and the future performances of this filly will be monitored by the Stipendiary Board. ACASTUS was hanging in throughout. SOME MAGIC threw her head up and ducked out for no apparent reason approaching the 200 metre mark. Jockey Khumalo reported that MOON FROST was making abnormal respiratory noises post race. In view of the performance of SOME MAGIC, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. SOME MAGIC raced fitted with blinkers. Vet: SOME MAGIC and MOON FROST - nothing obvious detected.
