HOTEL CALIFORNIA was slow into stride. The start of this race was rescheduled at the request of Phumelela, due to a delay at Turffontein. In view of the performances from SWEET CAROLYN and HONEY SCRUB, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies and submit a report. CARELESS LOVE had to steady at the 1200m to avoid the heels of ALBERTS GEM, which was difficult to settle and shifted in when Jockey Schlechter's saddle slipped forward placing him at a disadvantage. BREATH OF AUTUMN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SWEET CAROLYN and HONEY SCRUB - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
