Apprentice Juglall rode his 40th winner on 27 February 2020 and will now claim a 1.5kg allowance. Jockey Kennedy did not ride at today's race meeting due to being medically indisposed. He was replaced on his mounts. SERGEANT YORK and SWINGTHEWILLOW WERE stubborn loading. This caused a delay to the start of this race. SERGEANT YORK and SWINGTHEWILLOW were stubborn loading. BLACK FRIDAY, IRISH BRU and JUST A RICH were slow into stride. Jockey Habib appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his ride on VALYRIAN KING. He explained to the Board that this gelding had jumped well and it was always his intention to lead, however, VALYRIAN KING took the bit and set very fast early fractions. He further explained that at approximately the 200m this gelding began to tire as a result of the fast fractions set early on. It is his opinion that VALYRIAN KING would need some sort of cover in races in future, as this gelding is tending to race keenly when exposed. When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have accounted for the disappointing run by VALYRIAN KING, Trainer Matchett explained to the Board that, in his opinion, it could be attributed to this gelding taking hold of the bit and doing too much in the early stages. Trainer Matchett also highlighted that VALYRIAN KING behaves similarly in work and concurred with Jockey Habib that VALYRIAN KING would need cover in races going forward. ELUSIVE WOMAN took a number of awkward strides throughout and thereafter commenced to hang in from the 300m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. ELUSIVE WOMAN was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ELUSIVE WOMAN - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ACCOMPLISHED - Stewards' permission; running in a feature race on 7 March 2020. PANAMA KID - under veterinary treatment. JOANNA ESS - sold.
