MASTER CHI, which had to have the tongue tie refitted by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, was restless and kicked in the stalls. WANDA was reluctant to load, kicked, had to be hooded and caused a delay. Trainer van Reenen will be advised to have this mare re-schooled before her next engagement. BORDERED IN GREY reared in the stalls. DESERT SWIRL was slow, losing one length. Jockey Behr reported that he felt something amiss with EQUITORIA in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. BORDERED IN GREY raced wide into the straight. Jockey Puller reported that ROYAL PERFORMANCE raced with its tongue over the bit. A TIME TO KILL was switched out to continue its run at the 350m. A TIME TO KILL was brushed at the 200m and carried inwards by DESERT SWIRL, which shifted in away from the crop. Thereafter in the concluding stages DESERT SWIRL was carried out slightly by A TIME TO KILL, which shifted out slightly. Jockey van Niekerk, the rider of A TIME TO KILL, called for a race review and then lodged an Objection on behalf of A TIME TO KILL, placed 4th, against DESERT SWIRL, placed 3rd, on the grounds of interference in the closing stages. The Objection Board, after considering the evidence heard and reviewing the patrol films from various angles, decided the result had not been affected by the incident complained of and therefore overruled the objection and allowed the judges' result to stand. Jockey van Niekerk's deposit was refunded. PRIVATE DOOWALEY and BORDERED IN GREY were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. The Ownership of FOLLOW THE WIND should read: Drakenstein Stud (Nom: Mrs G A Rupert). Colours remain unchanged. Vet: A TIME TO KILL - kicked in the parade ring on left fore, was inspected, trotted sound and no pain on palpation, declared fit to race. Inspected post race and trotted sound. EQUITORIA - returned with speedy cuts on right hind. MASTER CHI - returned cut on the right hind after being kicked in stalls, trotted sound.
