LAST SHOT (ARG), ICE CRUSHER and JETSONS (BRZ) were stubborn loading. LEGATEE was nervous in the stall. SIDESTEP was slow away, lost 4 lengths. Apprentice Patel, the rider of BLUSHING PETER dropped his right side rein at the 200 metre mark, which he re-gained shortly thereafter. Jockey Ndlovu reported that LAST SHOT (ARG) was not striding out freely in the running. ESS EL KAY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Mxothwa rode his 60th winner in this race and will no longer claim an apprentice allowance after this race meeting. BLUSHING PETER raced with blinkers. Vet: LAST SHOT (ARG) - injured left hind fetlock suspension apparatus. ICE CRUSHER - coughing post race. Scratched: SUIT OF LIGHTS - insufficient recovery time. The Course Farrier on duty reported that the shoes of all the runners engaged at today's race meeting were checked and confirmed with the rules. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure. Several Jockeys were selected at random for the taking of breathalyser tests and urine samples for analysis.
