In view of the performance from BRAVE LEADER, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding and submit a report. Jockey Fayd'Herbe was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline C, Appendix L, in that he misused his crop by hitting OREO SHAKE (AUS) more than three times on consecutive strides in the concluding stages. Jockey Fayd'Herbe signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined. In assessing the penalty, the Board considered Jockey Fayd'Herbe's recent history of contravening this particular rule and guideline. OREO SHAKE (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BRAVE LEADER - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. Scratched: MOUNTAIN MASTER - coughing.
