HIGHWAY MACK dropped its head down in the stalls and got stuck underneath the front gate for some time, was eventually freed and was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon. Trainer Burger will be advised that this colts starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. GIGABYTE was reluctant to load, was fractious and had to be loaded without the Jockey. Trainer Kotzen will be advised that this geldings starting stall certificate has been withdrawn. CAPE SISKIN jumped awkwardly inwards. SENICA was slow, losing three lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. Following the incident regarding HIGHWAY MACK in starting stall gate 6, the rest of the field were moved to the next available outside stall to retain their relative drawn positions as stall gates 6 and 7 were damaged during the incident. Jockey Byleveld reported that HOLLYWOOD JET made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. In view of the performances from BIG BLUE and GINGER RIPPLE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the geldings and submit a report. IRISH TRADER clipped the heels of HIDDEN DRAGON at the 600m and fell. This resulted in Jockey Khathi being dislodged. An Inquiry will be held into the circumstances of this report. CLASSY FIGHTER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BIG BLUE and GINGER RIPPLE - inspected post race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. HOLLYWOOD JET - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise. IRISH TRADER - fell in the race, and is not striding out. Scratched: HIGHWAY MACK - injured in the starting stalls and was withdrawn at the start.
