The start of this race was delayed due to a false start being called. LAVISH GAL turned her head into the next stall as the start was effected, resulting in the Starter calling a false start. All the horses were pulled up, returned to the start, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and reloaded, except for UDOMO, who bolted the course. Trainer Maroun was advised to re-school LAVISH GAL prior to her next engagement. GEOLINE broke the front gate open. ANNIA GALERIA raced equipped with alumites in front and steels behind. Jockey Strydom reported that BREATHLESS took no interest in running. Trainer Gray was questioned regarding the performance of BREATHLESS. The only explanation that Mr Gray could offer was that this mare had been difficult to saddle prior to the running of this race and may have been affected by the false start. This explanation was noted. Apprentice Aucharuz reported that DANIELLE was blowing heavily in the running. WOODROSE, TABANNA and DEVORAH were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BREATHLESS - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. DANIELLE - abnormal respiratory noise. SOPHIA GRACE - abnormal respiratory noise. Scratched: SIOUX SHE - not striding out right front. ARTIC ROUTE - sore back. UDUMO - bolted the course after the false start being called.
