LORD ROSE and GANDOLF THE GREAT were slow into stride. DE LA DANZA (AUS) and BADGE OF CHOICE lost one length. FORESTRY LAW was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. A tiring RUN SOFTLY shifted in slightly at approximately the 350 metre mark, carrying FORESTRY LAW inwards, resulting in GOLD FLIGHT and ROYAL MAC (AUS) becoming severely cramped and having to be checked, losing position. Thereafter, at the 250 metre mark, RUN SOFTLY shifted in, carrying GOLD FLIGHT inwards and resulting in GOLD FLIGHT having to be eased off the heels of RUN SOFTLY. ROYAL MAC (AUS) and GOLD FLIGHT were not persevered with thereafter. Apprentice Mo signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention in that, as the rider of RUN SOFTLY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses FORESTRY LAW, GOLD FLIGHT and ROYAL MAC (AUS) at approximately the 350 metre mark and GOLD FLIGHT at approximately the 250 metre mark. He was suspended for a period of 7 days. Jockey Byleveld reported that LORD ROSE was not striding out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine ROYAL MAC (AUS), LORD ROSE and GOLD FLIGHT. The Ownership of RUN SOFTLY should read: Mrs S J De Oliveira; and the Colours are: royal blue and green checked diamonds, royal blue sleeves and cap. Vet: ROYAL MAC (AUS), LORD ROSE and GOLD FLIGHT - nothing obvious detected. The course farrier on duty did not report there to be anything amiss with the shoes fitted to the horses that raced at today's race meeting. The passports of all the runners that raced at today's race meeting were checked, identities, AHS and Equine Influenza vaccinations confirmed, as per normal procedure.
