ASTRIX pulled a front shoe in the parade ring, which was replaced by the farrier in the back saddling area. The saddle fittings on IKIGAI had to be replaced and IKIGAI had to wait until ASTRIX had returned up the chute from the front parade ring before he could proceed to the parade ring. These incidents caused a significant delay to the start of this Race. ASTRIX and ROOI TOM took an awkward stride at the 1300m and 1200m, respectively. Jockey van Rensburg accidentally dropped his crop at the 350m. In the concluding stages IKIGAI, which had come to the end of its run, had to steady when awkwardly placed between GREEN LASER, which rolled out, and YOUCANTHURRYLOVE, which shifted in away from the crop. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine IKIGAI. Trainer Tarry was requested to report back on the condition of IKIGAI on return to stables. GOT THE GREENLIGHT over-raced in the early and middle stages. GOT THE GREENLIGHT, GREEN LASER and YOUCANTHURRYLOVE were selected for the taking of specimen for analysis. Jockey Khumalo signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined for contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse YOUCANTHURRYLOVE more than 12 times with his crop in the entire race. When assessing this penalty the Board took into consideration Jockey Khumalo's recent record with regards to this rule and guideline and the fact that this was a Group 1 race. Vet: IKIGAI - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: WHISKYTANGOFOXTROT - abnormal temperature.
